HISTORY OF PAPILLON RANCH
The ranch was named in honor of our daughter Christine, Papillon being the French name for butterfly.

We started our horse business in 1979 in search of the most versatile horse - we decided on the Appaloosa. The color was an added dimension and proved to be exciting and occasionally elusive during foaling season. Our primary goal was and still is to produce high quality, colored breeding stock.

Papillon's Zippo's Legend
To a fairly high degree we have accomplished this! Our horses have been used to expand the Appaloosa horse business in former East Germany, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, England, Canada and Mexico.

More recently, we've moved our breeding operation toward specialization to be competitive at National and World levels. We chose the Pleasure discipline and now offer the industry a loud colored stallion - a two-time National and World Champion in Junior Western Pleasure.

Zippo's Legend PR, sired by the great ZIPPO PINE BAR, is "Preserving the Past" and will be "Defining the Future" of our breeding program and we believe he will have a profound influence on the Appaloosa industry, both in the U.S. and in foreign countries.
